Some time back we had to rely on supermarket pin boards, or newspaper classifieds to find things. Then along came google, socials and internet directories that put it all on computer databases for us to upload, search and locate things we wanted.
I know….. you’re thinking “so if directories like Google locate things for me, why are we talking about ‘Find It Locally’ ?”
While we all understand about linking to stuff on the net, we are also getting tired of having modern directories decide what we see or don’t see when we are looking. It seems our searches aren’t random, they don’t tell us everything, they are served up by algorithms – mathematical tools that decide what’s relevant to us and what is not.
OUR FUNDRISE PROJECT TAKES “FINDING THINGS” TO A WHOLE NEW LEVEL.
We want ‘searching for things’, and ‘advertised things’, to create more value, build more vibrant local and regional communities.
We want an online place where businesses and organisations that advertise, actually see their money contribute to local opportunities and resources.
We also want to see the billions of dollars spent on marketing – channelled back into our community organisations so they can help us manage when life gets tough, opportunities diminish or families suffer.
When a business or organisation decides to promote themselves in the local or regional area, we’d like to know their contribution is adding to the communities capacity to be resilient.
This level of resilience can’t be achieved on grants, or raffles, or fetes and fairs alone. It requires a sustainable fundraising mindset and a platform that is wholistic and forward thinking.
THAT’S WHY OUR PROJECT IS UNIQUE THAT’S WHY FIND IT LOCALLY IS INNOVATIVE
TOGETHER WE CAN SUPPORT BUSINESS AND COMMUNITY TOWARD SUSTAINABILITY
